The Blaine Police Explorers are a division of the Boy Scouts of America. These are students that are interested in learning about law enforcement careers. They receive specialized training in various aspects of police work and have the opportunity to ride along with on duty Police Officers .
Police Explorers will learn some of the responsibilities and requirements to become a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Minnesota. They are taught how to become better listeners, gain confidence and become a positive role model in the community. Police Explorers also have many opportunities to volunteer for the community at events like the 3M Championship and the annual Blaine Blazin’ 4th Festival.
Explorers are taught how to properly handle various police calls and the skills necessary to do so safely. They are tested on these skills by participating annually at a 3 day state wide event competition in Rochester, MN.
Explorers must be:
- Ages 14 – 21
- Maintain a C average or better in school
- Pass a criminal history background check
- Be willing to volunteer time for community events
