Many of us have seen the “multi-colored” National Alert Level System that was developed in response to the tragedies of September 11, 2001. Since that time we have seen a lot of information on what is being done at the Federal and State levels to keep us safe. We have seen the National Alert Level rise from an “elevated condition” (Yellow) to a “high condition” (Orange). Recently, we were instructed to buy duct tape and plastic sheeting to help better protect us from the threat of terrorist attacks. You have probably asked yourself, “What does this mean to me and what should I be doing?” The following are actions that have been taken by the City to plan and prepare for emergency events, along with tips and suggestions to assist you as citizens in the event of emergencies.
