CounterAct Alcohol, Drugs, and Violence is a six-session curriculum designed to involve police officers, schools, and families in preventing children from using alcohol and other drugs and helping children avoid using violence as a means of solving problems. CounterAct teaches students in grades 4, 5, and 6 specific skills they can use to say no to alcohol, other drugs, and violence, and offers young people a supportive community that strengthens the protective factors in their lives.

The CounterAct curriculum was developed by Hazelden and the Golden Valley (Minnesota) Police Department and is currently being used by the Blaine Police Department. Currently, CounterAct is taught in the 5th grade in the District 11 Elementary Schools within the City of Blaine. For further information or questions regarding the program, please contact Andrea Hunt, Crime Prevention Specialist and CounterAct instructor, at 763-785-6113.
