 The Police Department provides law enforcement and public safety services for the benefit of the community. Primary activities include:

Enforcement of state and City laws. |

Protection of people and property from criminal activity. |
| 3. |
Traffic control and investigation of traffic accidents. |
| 4. |
Investigation and documentation of complaints related to petty misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, or felonies. |

Administration of crime prevention programs. |
| 6. |
Preventative patrol. |
In addition, the Police perform innumerable services rendered in take interest of protection, safety, and convenience to the public. They maintain a close liaison with other law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Minnesota, Anoka County, and neighboring communities. Police personnel respond to calls for medical assistance, citizen transport, industrial accidents, actual disasters, aid to other departments, house checks, park checks, and other calls for service or aid to the public.
