Housing Services includes the Blaine Home Improvement Loan Program, Residential Maintenance Code and the Rental Housing Program. It co-sponsors the Annual North Metro Home and Garden Fair along with the cities of New Brighton, Mounds View and Fridley. Housing staff participates as a member of the North Metro I35W Corridor Coalition Housing Subcommittee and the countywide Affordable Housing Coalition. This department provides information about the Minnesota First Time Home Buyer Program and the First Time Home Buyer Workshop offered through Anoka County Community Action Program (ACCAP.) It also has information about ACCAP's housing rehabilitation program available to county residents seeking assistance with emergency repairs. The city of Blaine owns two senior housing buildings for which staff serves as the city liaison to Blaine Courts and Cloverleaf Courts with Twin City Christian Homes (TCCH) managing the two properties. Access to a copy of A Remodeling Planbook for Post WWII Houses (Cape Cods and Ramblers) and details about Section 8-rental assistance through the Metropolitan Housing and Redevelopment Authority (MHRA) is also available by contacting this department.
